Another word for lingerie is intimates. Which is defined as a very close friend. It's from the latin word intimus - which means 'inmost'. When you help a naked woman in a changeroom you get close fast. Our 'why' at BraTopia is to ignite self love and empowerment in women. Throughout September I had the opportunity to spend most of my days in the store which allowed me to reconnect with our purpose and our why. Here is a summary of some of the moments I was witness to as people are sharing their inmost selves with us:
- A husband came in to buy lingerie for his wife's birthday as they were going on their first post baby trip.
- A man called the store wanting to buy a gift card for his wife - but wanted assurance that we would fit her and help her find bras that she loved and fit perfectly.
- A woman came in to get fit after her 100lb weight loss - as she wanted to know what her new size was.
- A new mom came in to get fit for a nursing bra, but showed sadness as her pre-baby size was much smaller.
- A woman came in to buy something for her partner as she had to work all weekend, and he did all of the work to move them to their new place. She wanted something special to say 'thank you' in.
The human stories that cross our doors on any given day are heart based and impact the lives of not only who's in our store but those all around them when they get home. What we do has a ripple effect on the people that surround those that choose us for their most intimate moments and life changes.
